AVC MEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE JAPAN 2025 to be Held in Japan

The SV.LEAGUE(SVL) is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with the Japan Volleyball Association (JVA), we will co-host the AVC MEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE JAPAN 2025.

 

This tournament, organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), determines the club champion of Asia. The event has been newly rebranded from the Asian Volleyball Club Championship, and its inaugural edition will take place in Japan. A total of 12 champion clubs from across Asia, including teams from China and Iran, will compete, with the top two clubs earning a spot in the World Club Championship, scheduled to be held in December 2025.

 

As SVL strives to become the world's top volleyball league, hosting an international tournament immediately after the domestic season holds great significance. We hope to deliver the excitement of world-class volleyball competition world-class volleyball competition to Japanese fans while also encouraging the entire Japanese volleyball community to support our domestic clubs in qualifying for the World Club Championship.

As the host country, 2 clubs represent Japan and compete at the competition;

Suntory Sunbirds Osaka (2023-24 V.LEAGUE DIVISION1 MEN Champions)

Osaka Bluteon (2023-24 V.LEAGUE DIVISION1 MEN Runners-up, formerly Panasonic Panthers)

We invite all fans to show their enthusiastic support for these two top Japanese clubs.

 

The tournament will take place in Panasonic Arena (Hirakata City, Osaka) for the group stage and at Shimadzu Arena Kyoto (Kyoto City, Kyoto) for the Final Stage. Both venues will be in the Kansai area, which are the hometowns of both. We look forward to welcoming many spectators to the matches.

We are truly honored to host the inaugural edition of the rebranded AVC MEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE JAPAN 2025 as the host country for the men's tournament, marking a significant milestone in the transformation led by the AVC.

SVL is also in its very first season, and this tournament will take place immediately after the Championship Final, where the league’s first-ever champion will be crowned.

Together with volleyball fans, we aim to carry this excitement forward, supporting the challenges of players and teams as they expand their stage from Japan to Asia and ultimately to the world.

Furthermore, with the AVC Champions League being held in Japan, SVL will accelerate its growth toward becoming one of the world's top volleyball leagues.

Quarterfinals: May 15 (Thu) – May 16 (Fri), 2025

Semifinals: May 17 (Sat), 2025

Final: May 18 (Sun), 2025

Group Stage: Panasonic Arena (Hirakata City, Osaka)

Final Stage: Shimadzu Arena Kyoto (Kyoto City, Kyoto)

 

Tournament Format

12 clubs will compete in the Group Stage, with the top 2 teams advancing to the Final Stage.

The Final Stage will be conducted as a knockout tournament.

Further details on participating clubs, ticket sales, and television broadcasting will be announced as soon as they are finalized. Ticket sales are scheduled to begin after mid-April via Ticket V.
